I'm a general manager of a tavern in Bucks County, PA and thought it would be a great idea to do a tour of all our local craft breweries. After an amazing afternoon and lunch at Troegs in Hershey, we decided to hit Stoudts on our way back on the Turnpike...wow what a mistake that was.
We pull into a desolate parking lot....the building looks like a scene from a Stanley Kubrick horror film.
My colleagues and I walk into the main entrance to a very creepy ambiance. We got there around 450PM, I guess they don't do tours during the week and the gift shop/information desk workers close at 5pm. There were 2 ladies that were getting their things to leave and they told that they were "not kicking us out, but either had to leave or go to the bar/restaurant" Not the best way to greet customers who are trying to buy your beer and sell them at their own establishment.
After the rude greeting and getting kicked to the bar, there was only 2 customers drinking at the bar and the bartender had 0 knowledge of the beers they brew and had only worked there for 2 weeks. You would think that if a brewery is hiring as bartender, they would properly train their staff on the beers they make.
We got a sample of all their beers, tried them and left..........beer were ok but nothing to write home about. I suggest calling first and asking if the staff they have scheduled that day is trained before you make the trip. I was dumbfounded with the rudeness and lack of knowledge from a place supposedly in business for 50 years. Good luck, looks like its going out of business
