I recently had a knee replacement surgery with Dr. Kristopher Wheeler and couldn t be more pleased with my experience from pre-op to post-op.

While I normally have surgical procedures done at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, I was somewhat hesitant to learn I would have my procedure somewhere else. But every interaction I have had with Habersham Medical Center has alleviated any fears I may have had. And the extra travel distance was well worth it for the personalized level of care I received.

The last few experiences at NEGMC have been less than stellar. I ve had extended waiting times in hallways because there are no available beds. There have been nursing shortages with family being afraid to leave me alone for fear that I wouldn t get timely care after surgical procedures. It s not a comforting feeling.

I m scheduled to have 2 additional surgeries in the next few months and I have no reservations in having these handled at Habersham Medical Center. The personalized care was outstanding. I never waited for anything. I actually sent my family member home as I was completely comfortable with the care and treatment I was receiving from the nursing staff as well as the physical therapy staff. My case manager coordinated my aftercare and my durable medical equipment. All of my equipment was at home waiting for me to arrive. The on-site pharmacy had my take-home prescriptions filled and ready for me at discharge. No need to stop and get those filled on the way home. That was such an added bonus! No need to sit waiting at CVS for an hour.

With Habersham Medical Center coming on board with NEGMC, I was able to get quality care within a smaller hospital setting. Having lived in the Gainesville area since 1988, I remember that smaller hospital setting. I m glad to have found another option for my future surgical needs.
