My personal experience with Dr. Karas is that he is thoughtful and takes time to listen to your concerns. He explains things in a manner that is more consultative rather than talking at you. I went through 2 other doctors at the practice and by God s Grace I believe I ended up with the best of the 3. I stuck with Midwest because of Doctor Jacobs and his reputation. So I felt that I could trust doctor Karas training and the reputation he was building for himself. While he is yet new to Midwest, he has a talented staff that above all proved to have integrity, a tenacity for making sure I understood and was on point with the requirements of the procedures and processes that must be met for surgery to take place. Based on how well I feel 3 weeks after the surgery, I can tell you that it feels like he successfully completed a total knee replacement of my left side. I literally called my company to tell them I wanted to return to work after the first week that s how good I felt after surgery. It was amazing. No more pain! The first night after surgery the nurses made me walk and I had NO pain. There was some muscular pain in the back of my knee but no actual knee pain! Now I m returning to my office environment with limited walking per doctor s instructions after 3 weeks of physical therapy. My range of motion is incredible... In 3 more weeks I get my right knee done. I can t express in words how excited I am at the anticipation of having two new functional knees that will give me a whole new lease on life after 12 years of agony and steroid injections and monovisc, etc... I highly recommend Doctor Karas and his team. They are wonderful with pain management, follow up and return phone calls. When you re going through something this important we all need the BEST. Dr. Karas is someone to setup an appointment with and at least get his opinion. The only critique I would have if I had to knit pick, is that I would have liked to seen him more at the hospital after surgery since I was there more than one night. But again he is a surgeon (probably in the OR all day) and I m knit picking. I was visited by at least 2 if not 3 of his colleagues during my 3 day stay. Keep in mind I m a high risk patient with very high expectations. Only time will tell the full impact of the surgery, but I have I high hopes based on the initial results and progress of physical therapy. I will update my review and/or add another review after my second total knee replacement. Best Regards.
