Still can't believe that Sheraton/Marriott insists...

Still can't believe that Sheraton/Marriott insists on not refunding for our stay. Some background, we were scheduled to attend a Volleyball tournament and these tournaments force families to stay at select hotels (called Stay and Play). So Sheraton receives all of their bookings because we have no choice. The event cancelled one day before starting, so naturally you would think we would be refunded. No, Sheraton/Marriott is charging me for 3 nights for an empty room. Meanwhile, their competitor Hilton is refunding all nights and fees. Over the past 10 years I have stayed at Sheraton/Marriott hotels over 600 times....that ends today. I am now committed to stay and Hilton for all future hotel stays simply because of their compassionate and logical decision to not take advantage of people who have not choice in the matter. If you have a choice, please choose to stay somewhere else - Hilton seems to have a company culture that I want to support.
