Fortnum & Mason exudes a certain charm as a remind...

Fortnum & Mason exudes a certain charm as a reminder of how the English bourgeoisie used to live and dine. However, in the past we often found activities acceptable which we no longer find attractive such as, perhaps, hanging people and the slave trade.

A third example is foie gras. At one time, many people turned a blind eye to the cruel and heartless means by which foie gras is produced. Whist many people and companies realise that this cruelty is vile and unacceptable, Fortnum & Mason has yet to do so. Please, therefore, realise that if you chose to shop at this vestige of old England, you are supporting a company that contributes to the vile cruelty and suffering of the geese used in the production of foie gras.

It's your choice, but I won't be shopping there until Fortnum & Mason chooses to move into the 21st century and stops selling foie gras.
