I've been coming here for years and for some reason had neglected to leave a review in the past. Had I left a review prior to this visit, I'd have left a 4-5 star review. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case... About 2 months ago, I quit going out to eat entirely to focus on home cooking and overall health. Prior to that, Taverna was always my short list of restaurants in Flagstaff and I'd eat there 3-4 times a month.

This visit, the staff was friendly but the food didn't seem right. I asked our server and she indicated they had switched food vendors and, in addition, had a bunch of new cooks who maybe didn't know how to prepare the food right. She was going to talk to the kitchen manager about it. Ok, well I then told her we were long time customers (4+ years) but this would be the last time we would be coming as the food had gone way downhill. Bland gyro meat and way too salty calamari.

In any normal restaurant, after you complain to that level, at a minimum, a manager will come over to see what they can do to help, or occasionally, you'll get part of your meal comp'd as recompense for a poor experience. Which did I, a longtime loyal customer get? Neither.

Very disappointing. Will not be returning
