Overall, it was a good experience. It is a little more difficult to get a visa for China than for other Asian countries. They do a thorough job of making sure everything is in order before they submit it to the government. I had to correct a few things, but was able to come back the same day without waiting in line. Some tips: make an appointment, or try to avoid Mondays. Complete your 4 page application in advance. Make sure you hair is pulled back with ears visible for the photo. And the process of lining up to use the printers and computers confused me. It was easier to go across the street to the second floor, where there is a Fotomax. You can get copies, printing, and photos there very easily. You can also email Fotomax something to print. At the visa center, you can't print from a USB. I applied on Wednesday and got it the next Monday, for regular service. I have a USA passport and was able to get 10 year multiple entry, 60 day visits (L visa).
