I never tire of visiting Fort Necessity! The Visitors center shows a film that will help you understand the background and gives an overview of the battle. Displays fill in the details of the battle at Fort Necessity as well as information on the French and Indian war.

Walking out to the battlefield, you will get a sense of what it was like there in the 18th century. The National Park Service is restoring the original tree line and is taking other steps to help this battlefield look the way it did at the time of the battle.

I met a park Service employee who was portraying a British soldier. He added some color about the battle and what it must have been like for the soldiers.

Always a good stop if you're near Route 40 in Western PA!
