A number of years ago, I stayed in Monmouth Medical's teen crisis program, CCIS. The staff was abusive and condescending. Many of the therapists and orderlies ridiculed me. The psychiatrist at the time, Dr. Zaidi, seemed unfamiliar with the symptoms of my very common diagnoses, and locked me in the "time out room" when I was unable to recover from them instantly. Overall, I left the hospital in a worse-off state than when I entered.
I have heard that in recent years, the program has improved and is now managed by a different psychiatrist and run by a kinder staff. I am happy to hear this, but my experiences have left a deep, traumatic scar on my childhood.
