Had to swap US visas and after waiting several hours, was rejected for a 5mm scratch on my passport which did not cover any text or images. I had previously been issued a US visa and entered the country 5 times while in the same condition. When I asked the officer how I could rectify the situation, i.e. where to go a for a new passport etc, he repeated the refrain 'you're not a citizen of my country I have no obligation to help you.' This awful man who's job it is to deal with such events daily, could not even have heart enough to provide me basic logistical advice. Several hundreds pounds later I'm still waiting for my visa and may not be able to attend my university and return to the US because of one disgusting human being and American paranoia. Avoid at all costs unless absolutely necessary to go, or you are one of the elect: a citizen of their country.
