Review of Brookwood Grill

This was my first experience with Brookwood Grill ...

This was my first experience with Brookwood Grill this past late Saturday evening. The music was interesting, didn't particularly prefer it. We were greeted by the hostess and informed of a brief wait. It was brief. Off to a great start! I requested the house wine. I was corrected and was then suggested another entry wine without knowing what appetizer or entree I would be ordering. (This was my way of seeing whether we're served on fine China or the Cornell i.e. I came in specifically to review the Grill ) We proceeded to order the calamari. After a second helping, I discovered a long hair deeply fried into the crust linking a couple of pieces together! Disgusted, my son notified the server and she offered another. My son preferred the dip but conceded to the ladies' choice. I was done with the calamari. My daughter in law wanted the server's offer. A gentleman did come out and apologize. I then ordered the lobster bisque, delicious but l bit into a small shell. I ordered the mixed salad and the surf & turf. I'm used to lobster as the surf but I went with the flow. My son had steak medium rare (the steak was rare) and potato, requested sour cream, reminded the server but never received it. My daughter in law had the crab cake. This was the entree, most satisfying. We ordered desert, I had the brownies ala mode. Regrettably, the brownie was incredibly dry! It burst when I bit into it like a vampire in direct sunlight! The bite of ice cream helped vanquish the urge to cough up the dry piece of brownie. As the family of a former general manager of luxury resort this was disappointing. The calamari wasn't even offered complimentary. We chose NOT to send anything back to the kitchen. I took my leftover home to find a little calamari, separate plate, with my entree. I prefer preparing my own take home containers. Prior to the fried hair and shell the entrees were delicious but what what would it take to receive the entrees as I believed they were intended? This was our Christmas dinner together since they will be out of town.
