Why should we allow our future generation to lack education? This school does a good job of teaching in the normal sense, but lacks in every other aspect.
One of the aspects that it lacks is sports. This educational facility does not have any formal or official sports team of any kind, and whenever an attempt is made to create one, it is shut down. Additionally, the gymnasium is in poor conditions. As a gymnasium, it should've been designed to withstand impacts, but every time a ball hits the wall, the cracks on it just grow bigger and bigger. Finally, since the middle school building does not have their own gym, they invade the high school gym during the high school P.E classes. This is a problem for many reasons. The first one is that all sports played are mixed into middle schoolers and high schoolers. This creates and imbalance and a frustration to the high schoolers who should be enjoying their time playing a sport. Secondly, some middle schoolers do not know how to behave and have behavior that could irritate high schoolers, and if the high schoolers do not know how to control themselves, the result would not be good for anyone. Finally, it defeats the purpose of P.E. Most high schoolers sit out as a result of the large body of middle schoolers in the gym screaming and making inhuman sounds. This is not only a failure of equipment, but also a bad idea from the central administration.
When I refer to central administration I refer to the people who are in charge of the decisions and the path this school takes. There have been some unprocessed decisions, there have been some incredibly astute ones, and there have been some infuriatingly stupid ones. There has been a constant shift in critical personal over 2015-2018. Some may argue that change is good. I disagree. When a school has different leaders, it creates a disturbance every time a new-hire takes office. As a result, the student body has to adjust to new rules and guidelines they must follow. As a result, the instructive body has to adjust to new curriculums and unrealistic expectations. As if this was not brash enough, there are the new guidelines for the oncoming school year. The library will be removed. Great. Another outrageous rule, that I doubt will be enforced, is that all student body wears the same jacket. Sold by Harmony. Sometimes I wonder if this is a communist nation or a School.
There is light in the darkness, however. This school did a great job of informing students of college preparation and application. The counselors track down students to make sure that they have their college applications ready. They are more than willing to help. This is good. Changing from high school to college can be a scary experience. It s relieving to have counselors who are at-the-ready to help those who are confused, lost, scared, or just flat-out lazy. For college preparation, this school is unmatched, I believe.
More good news: the student body and most teacher staff is in good harmony. Most teachers are friendly and willing to lend a helping hand to the students who want it. There are some teachers who believe their position of authority gives them a power to rule over the students, but its a small percentage. The other percentage is easily-going with students, as long as the students are easy-going as well.
Harmony Science Academy Dallas is not the best. It doesn t have any sort of athletics. It doesn t have any school spirit. It doesn t have a good building or location. It doesn t have many things it should have, but one thing is has is potential. A lot of it. This school could improve massively by Improving the central administration. Talk to the students. Listen to their ideas. If they don t like a single jacket for everyone, don t be prideful or greedy, just drop that idea-
