With this vehicle I dealt with Open Road and 1 other dealer. Both started through online inquiries by me and the negotiating was done primarily via email/phone which was great. Both dealers had pretty identical offers but Open Road offered to beat out the other dealer and so I went down to the dealership. Upon entering I met with the person I dealt with all along through email/phone but was quickly handed off to another sales rep. Negotiating started all over again pretty much. A manager got involved and in the end they were asking for $2200 more down then the other dealer to get me at the same monthly price. That was also $2200 more than what we agreed to through email. Needless to say I walked out and headed over to the other dealer. On my way the original sales woman called to apologize and said there was a mistake and for me to come back and they would honor what she said. They lost a deal because I had to go through too many people and things got "confused" in the process. They need to rethink their process when it comes to internet sales. Let that person handle the process from start to finish and close the deal. Keep the manager and other sales reps behind the scenes and maybe things wouldn't get "confused". Thats what the other dealer did and I closed on my deal that same night (at the price we previously discussed) and picked the car up the next day. Times have changed and being able to negotiate through email/phone at my pace without the pressures of the salesman and the 3 other sales people or managers that want to chime in, is the best way to do it in my opinion. Thanks Curt at Park Ave Acura for making things simple and not wasting my time like Open Road Acura did.
