I use to work for a West Coast YMCA teaching Swim classes & Step Aerobics, supervising kids on the tennis courts, setting up memberships and hiring staff. This YMCA was part of the community - this one is NOT!
No money, no membership! It's $15 a day (same as a nice club), no weekly fees allowed, no negotiating either - no volunteering excepted here! (Where do you think you are? The Y?) A $100 membership fee (seniors save an entire $4 on monthly dues after that), $70 month to visit (even for a week). Clueless staff, could not even work the computer and could care less about my time. I had to ask for a tour! A more inviting staff would be helpful.
I guess the YMCA has changed. I certainly won't bother going there and will no longer make contributions or volunteer - on either coast!
