Please, please keep an open mind and remember this a historic hotel! This is truly a place where your own attitude can make or break your satisfaction. Ceiling tiles, crown molding, chandeliers, not to mention wonderful staff and cleanliness, all make a stay here charming and enjoyable. The view from the roof is SPECTACULAR! Our small single room accommodated myself and my 6 1/2 ft husband quite well (historic = high ceilings which balances the small sq footage so it doesn't feel cramped). And yes, this is in the Gaslamp District, so if you're not into, historical perspective, high energy locations and the sound of a mosquito wakes you, find another hotel and save your bad review for more legitimate issues. :)
