This is the time to acknowledge outstanding, professional service and to express appreciation for the patient, kind, compassionate, efficient manner in which this service has been given. The one individual who comes to mind, is Colleen, the A/R person at Healthcare Solutions 5920 Gateway Blvd NW Edmonton, AB.
Colleen has served Edith Sheppard, my younger foster sister with cerebral palsy, for many years. Edith lives independently, has graduated from college, and communicates readily by computer. Colleen has also very effectively assisted me over the years in learning how to use Healthcare Solutions as Our primary vendor for our personal products provided for through ADL (Aids to Daily Living) as well as by a private purchase while keeping our accounts well within our budget and able to be paid in full at all times.
At the end of the day, "it is what it is" - all authorization for funding must be in place before the products we need can be delivered. But going through the process to get there is like finding your way through a corn maze. That is where Colleen's assistance has been so helpful. Her experience both professionally and personally has been a godsend.
Especially when our personal health needs are changing as we age, the task can easily become overwhelming. Clear direction on how to proceed comes only from experience.
I learned from Colleen's experience as she works within a precise financial function but in an invaluably effective manner. For example, both my sister and I have the same doctor, but different and changing medical assessors, prescriptions for services/products, case managers, and personal care workers. But we need the same ADL authorizations, vendor(HCS), delivery service, and A/R persons/HCS/Colleen.
Each piece of the puzzle must fit into place for our needs to be met and our bills to be paid. Colleen's experience is essential because she can let us know what piece is missing, how long that process usually takes, and how to plan ahead to confirm authorization to be able to receive our products on time.
