My son got MRSA at this hospital. For 5 days I visited him in ICU and NO ONE told me he had MRSA so I entered his room unprotected and even kissed him! I have COPD and could get pneumonia from this contact! MRSA is the worst of all bacterial infections and is considered a highly communicable dangerous super bug. With proper procedures this should NEVER have happened! A new study, in the March issue of the American Journal of Infection Control, reveals that hospitals with a board certified director in infection prevention and control would have substantially lowered rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bloodstream infections (BSI), compared with hospitals that are not led by a certified professional.
