An integral part of the cultural tapestry of Bristol, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's SS Great Britain is a fascinating technological marvel, the first iron-hulled, screw-driven steam passenger ship in the world. After a turbulent history, the Great Britain spent some time in the Falkland Islands as a rusting coal bunker, but was bought by a local businessman in 1970 and returned to Bristol.

Today she has been restored beautifully by a team of dedicated and talented staff, and is displayed in a unique setting in the same dockyard in which she was initially laid down. The museum also includes a large converted stores warehouse with many other exhibits related to the ship, and a small cafe just outside. Most definitely worth visiting for any visitors to the city.
