I'll be honest, when I visited the museum on my last trip to DC, I hadn't originally planned on coming here. But once I finished the museum I had planned on visiting that day a little earlier than expected, I decided to take the advice of a fellow DC tourist and made the short walk to the Holocaust museum. When people have asked me what it was like, my answer is always this: whatever I was feeling or thinking about when I walked in that building, I came out of it very humbled by the experience. It's something else, to walk through this place with the mixture of emotions that one has, from anger and rage at the people responsible, to sadness and shock at the horrific trials, tortures, and losses the victims suffered, to finding yourself in sheer awe at the stories of the survivors and those who saved others from suffering that fate at their own risk. I definitely recommend adding this museum to your list of places to visit in DC. It's something that I guarantee will not leave you anytime soon.
