Jay Vee Review of RSPCA, Lort Smith, Anvet, etc
This Vet is supposedly one of the best in Melbourn...
This Vet is supposedly one of the best in Melbourne for their 24hour access and emergency and discounted services however this is at the expense of the staff having no care for your animal. I brought in my dog (staffy/ridgeback) after she had not been eating and drinking for 2 days, and prior to this I noticed some behaviour changes like not being very energetic. On the way to the Lort Smith my dog urinated pure blood to which I was in panic. Upon entering the Lort Smith my dog collapsed on the floor and did not want to move. It was clear she was in severe pain. The nurse had a look at my dogs gums and they were pale. The nurse looked at me and said "this is very bad. What have you been doing to your dog, She is dehydrated and is aneamic." I was appalled that she judged me as an owner as if I had neglected my pet without having looked at the medical history of my dog who had an already compromised immune system from previous surgery of a cyst in the lymph nodes and was on medication. The nurse assumed my dog was suffering for a long time when in fact my dogs health deteriorated rapidly within a few days. She then took my dog on the tray and as she carelessly pushed her, my dog fell off to the floor. I was angered by her carelessness towards my weak dog to which she then denied treating my animal. I was shocked and devastated that the nurse was turning my animal away in such a life threatening critical condition. I asked to speak to another nurse or vet and she denied and then called security, demanding us to leave. On the Lort Smith wedsite it states they will not turn away an animal and after hours there was no other emergency hospital until Werribee. I have donated to this vet as I once supported their practice and have had other pets come here. Never have I seen such unprofessionalism and malpractice conducted in an animal health care setting. This nurse had no sympathy nor mercy for my animal and do not believe she belongs in her profession.
