While in St Augustine staying at the Casa Monica the pool was closed due to repairs. We were told we could enjoy the pool etc at Serenata until our pool was repaired. The day began great with beautiful facilities and great food but after we had been there for most of the day we were told by the General Manager that our registered service dog was not allowed due to hygiene issues. He never touched the ground or came in contact with any of their areas as he was in a stroller. We were totally surprised as we've never had this issue even in restaurants. We were basicaly told we had to leave because of our service animal. The only sign posted was "no dogs allowed" but nothing said this included service animals. The General Manager said it was a private club and therefore they had the right to refuse to allow service animals. I should have known they were not supportive of people with disabilities when they did not have a ramp to the beach. So we ended up very distraught over this situation and sad for the management and this resort. We will not return and informed our hotel they should warn their guests who must use service animals they are not welcome at his resort. I surely hope the General Manager or any of its administrators never suffer a disability and have to use a service animal be humiliated as we were today. Very very disappointed.
