This shelter is the best! Yes, they'll give you the third degree if you want to adopt a pet, but after all the time they spend saving pets, why shouldn't they? They want to be sure your new pet has a home and won't be returned to the street. Two years ago I found and fostered a stray mother and her litter or five kittens; I kept two and the mother and a neighbor adopted one, but I had to give up the two remaining kittens. The ONLY reason I felt secure giving up the kittens I weaned so carefully for adoption through Northeast Animal Shelter was due to the shelter's intensive screening of potential owners. I KNEW my two remaining kittens would find a good home. As another reviewer said, here it is first and foremost about the animals. As it should be.
