The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, located in sector 12, Chandigarh, is one of the leading training, medical and educational institutes in the country. Established in 1962, the institute was founded by Tulsi Das, Santokh Singh Anand, P N Chuttani, B N Aikat, Sant Ram Dhall and Bala Krishna. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru inaugurated the hospital and named it Nehru Hospital. Since then the institute has been providing excellent healthcare and medical facilities to people across the country.

Apart from medical services, PGIMER boasts of providing training facilities in all the different medical disciplines along with the diploma, fellowships, doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. The institute offers medical, nursing and paramedical courses. Both undergraduate and postgraduate courses degrees are available for nursing and paramedical fields.
