Giving birth here was awful. They went against evidenced-based medicine at every turn. Some examples of the horrible care are: 1) They bullied me about Pitocin hourly (even though there was no medical indication for it and it increases risk of c-section in first time moms). 2) I wasn't allowed to nurse my baby for the first 10 hours (even though his apgar and tests were normal). 3) My baby was kept in the NICU for 16 hours even though it wasn't indicated by any test whatsoever. 4) A NICU doctor told me I would probably need to supplement with formula (before I had even tried to nurse-- and he was wrong). 5) They woke me up every single hour each night (you need to weigh my baby at 2am?). 6) Nothing was done in-room-- the baby always had to be taken to the nursery (where they won't allow the parents) for weighing, bathing, etc. 7) They gave my baby a chest x-ray and antibiotics without telling me, even though that's not standard of care for meconium. 8) The doctors in L&D were beyond disrespectful with no understanding of informed consent. The doctor said, "You have to have Pitocin or a C-section." I said, "I don't want either." She said, "That's not a choice." I said, "My body, my choice." FYI, I had a successful vaginal birth, but had to fight their backwards recommendations for 12 hours. 9) They didn't do delayed cord clamping or skin-to-skin. Bottom line: this hospital specialized in unnecessary medical intervention that wasn't in the best interest of the mother or baby. Find another hospital.
