My birth with Robin was disempowering and deeply traumatizing. I was coerced into an unnecessary cesarean without proper informed consent. When I later asked questions about what happened I was denied my birth records, lied to, and dismissed.

I encourage all mothers to approach this place with eyes wide open. Bumi Sehat has a complicated relationship with the government and regulators. Myself and many others have been casualties of their fear of getting shut down by officials in varying ways - unnecessary cesareans, physically assaulted in order to 'get things moving', dangerous details of the birth story whitewashed, etc.

No place is all good or all bad. But the PR surrounding Robin and Bumi Sehat does not match my experience or that of many mothers who have shared their stories with me after the fact. Do your own research and truly trust your intuition and feel of the place and people. It is my deepest regret that I did not.

Birth should be powerful not just gentle.
