Dr. Lisa Benton, Psy.D. Review of Grouse Mountain Grill

We returned to Grouse last week because we loved the service and food in 2018. However, this time was disappointing. The server was poorly informed on the menu items and the gluten free items available. I explained that our daughter has Celiac, and all of her food needed to be gluten free. He assured us that most dishes could be prepared that way, and we ordered the tuna app. He delivered the tuna app to our table a few minutes later doused in soy sauce. I asked, Is this soy sauce? After a long pause of confused thought, he took the dish off of the table and said, sorry, my fault. I was stunned by the obvious negligence, and we asked for the check to leave. It is completely ok if the restaurant is not equipped or conscious enough to serve our table, but it was clearly communicated that this was not an issue at Grouse. They are also ranked among the top restaurants on Yelp for gluten intolerance, though this is not a well deserved ranking. On top of that, the server could not tell us uh about the drinks on the menu at all. The manager came out to offer a vague anything I can do for you conversation. Excellent managers take action rather than make vague comments. We left and went to Golden Saddle Inn, where care was taken to serve our daughter the gluten free foods she needs to stay well.
