One star because zero stars isn't possible. Customer service is abysmal, as are the quality of their Hustler mowers. I've had my mower for less than a year, with less than 12 hours on the mower, and the steering has already broken under light use. In my case, it's a dampener (small hydraulic piston) that attaches with ONE easily accessible bolt. The head/clevis on this dampener is made of PLASTIC with an aluminum insert, NO WONDER it stripped out so easily.

I called customer service, got the runaround and was told to contact a local dealer. Contacted local dealers who said that they don't work on mowers they didn't sell....I bought mine at Lowe's, who doesn't do warranty work....GO FIGURE. I call back to Excel, and they tell me that 1) I'm now in a catch-22 because I can't get the part unless I take it to a dealer to get it fixed, but I can't get it fixed unless I bought it from THAT dealer and 2) I can't get the part directly from them, it has to be taken to my dealer.....CIRCLE BACK TO REASON NUMBER ONE. Unbelievable.

Besides being competent enough to replace a part with one bolt, I made it clear to them that 1) Taking in a mower to get one cheap part replaced means I lose more (in wages) than I gain (by letting them waste my time) and 2) The other driving force behind not getting out is my dad (whom we help and live next door) has advanced lung cancer and we can't take the chance of him getting this stupid virus. Their response? No effs given, take it or leave it. It's almost like their "warranty" was designed to be this way. DO NOT BUY ANY EQUIPMENT THIS COMPANY MAKES.
