Allen B Review of Motor Werks of Barrington

I had been a customer of Motorwerks since 1990 when I bought my first BMW. My family was friendly with the founder and since my first BMW I had purchased many more BMWs, a Porsche and a couple of Mercedes'. I will never do business with them again. I've had some service issues in the past but nothing too major until I purchased a Mercedes S550 CPO. There were some scratches to be buffed out, rims to be reconditioned along with a few other issues. The Mercedes sales manager assured me that all would be done for me and therefore I traded in my Mercedes GLS 550 for the S550.
When I dropped the S550 off for the restoration service. It was more than a week before it was returned with more than 300 additional miles on the odometer. That and the only thing completed was changing a cracked bumper dam that would take me 10 minutes to complete with hand tools. Nobody could or even attempted to address the issues of the mileage or lack of work. I was promised all would be completed to satisfaction and the car was returned in 1/2 of one day. Nothing was done except reset the embrace system and rim rash.
Meanwhile, the finance/high pressured insurance salesman that signed the bill of sale on 4/15 for the GLS 550 had not paid off the trade-in loan until 5/29, a full month after the payoff date, causing an additional automatic payment drawn from my account. I cancelled all of the useless insurance the finance/high pressured insurance salesman insisted I had to have. Now I am in collection mode trying to get repaid the $1,185.57 for the payment on a car they received on 4/15 and the insurance premiums of $2,584.85, all of which the insurance and finance companies state were sent to Motorwerks and I should have received long before now.
So bottom line: they used my car for 300 miles of driving during one week of time, uncompensated. They have had the use of $3,770.42 of my money with no interest and I will have to pay more than $600 to have the paint corrected at a reputable detailer.
Apparently the current person at the helm doesn't have the ethics of the founder and that is now reflected in much of the staff.
None of my cars will return to Motorwerks for any service and I will not buy another car from this dealer.
Update: It is now 7/31/2019 and the matter remains. Unethical and shameful. Even the "Customer Experience Manager" makes promises that are never kept and is happy to tell you half truths and lies.
