I attempted to start an AAT course at the college but was appalled by the lack of comprejensive information on the website regarding eligibility and the uncooperative approach of the college staff I was in contact with. As a professional working in a related sphere who has a Masters degree from an English university, I thought my credentials would be enough to secure a place on a course that I would be paying for after following the relevant admission procedure. I was told that my qualifications, although impressive, were not enough and that I had to present evidence that I have sat both an English and Maths GCSE, completely diasregarding the fact I come from a different country with a different educational system. I agreed to do a pre-liminary assessment to help them determine what the most suitable course for me was and as a type of entry exam. After spending days preparing for the assessment and taking leave from work to attend it, I was able to achieve good results and was confident my application would be progressed. To my surprise, weeks later I had not been contacted yet and when I enquired about the reasons for this lack of communication was told that they had no record of my attendance and that my results have effectively been lost. On the day of the assessment my attendance was noted by at least two people at a help desk and yet they could neither find my results nor confirm that I had indeed attended.
To me this is an atrociously unprofessional conduct, considering the effort I had put in ensuring that I attend and do well in the exam. The way they handled the situation convinced me that I'd be better off looking for alternative providers and avoiding dealing with such unlrofessional, ineffective institution and the people working for it. If the quality kf their customer service is so underwhelming, I can only imagine what the quality of teaching would be.
