Review of manheim imports

Well, the decision to buy my first Audi 1.5 years ...

Well, the decision to buy my first Audi 1.5 years ago has turned out to be a regrettable nightmare. What I thought was a sound purchase & reliable car has been nothing but a money pit for problems beyond my control. It is still less than 50k miles, driven <20k by me.

I've had issues since I bought it. Oil issues, start up misfires... my car even broke down on me 3 weeks ago. At first they said was a timing belt (which I learned in the Audi world is actually a timing chain) but then turned around and said it wasn't that... They said in order to identify the source of the real issue they had to drop the transmission. I was taking my car here for problems since I bought it until I took it to an Audi dealer for an expert opinion.

The Audi technicians found a whole mess of problems. They confirmed that it was, in fact, the timing chain and tensioner. They also said I needed a new oil pan which I had just replaced a year ago (at least that's what my invoice says) by Manheim Imports and I was missing all kinds bolts underneath which they found alarming--they even took pictures.

My warranty is up and I'm forced to pay thousands of dollars to get it back on the road (not including the $1200 I already paid to fix other problems). While I feel Audi is responsible for building such an unreliable car, I walked away from Manheim Imports with an immeasurable amount of mistrust in the service provided.

How do I know they actually replaced my oil pan or didn't mess it up again when I had it back in their shop for an oil change? Who's to say they didn't do just enough work to keep the car running or withhold information until the warranty ran out? I don't. If they are not shady, then their mechanics are simply not experienced enough; which means you are at risk for buying a car that hasn't been inspected properly.

I strongly advise potential customers to bring their own trustworthy mechanic to inspect the vehicle before purchase. Sadly, I learned that the hard way... and a little too late!
