I've decided to do this review now after a death of a young blk youtuber and her unborn baby. The light has focused on how blk females are disproportionately treated during pregnancy, while giving birth and after giving birth. Compared to other races. I myself after having four children each at different hospitals Good hope, Heartlands, City hospital and Queen Elizabeth hospital. At all four of them I've experienced in some what poor treatment from the midwives and staff supporting. The worse out of all four was City Rd. Not only they laughed and mocked me they had a trainee midwife insert her hands whilst actively in contractions with no one to over look on what this woman was doing I was in Excruciating pain. I was told not to have children if I cant accept the pain. I was given no pain relief the only option was Pethidine. The trainee midwife was getting upset because I refused to accept. I was left in the triage until bloody waters had gushed out i was in active Labour only then they wheelchaired me into a room to give birth. My son came within 20 min. The thing that bothered me in the triage I didnt get privacy the curtains where left open. Three women just sat their chatting away giggling and laughing while i was in pain. Never will I recommend anyone going there. This was my experience I do believe race has a part of it especially blk women as there is a deep dark history of how blk women have been treated in the medical field. There is NO excuse for anyone to have any kind of poor treatment especially at a time where your bring new life into this world. I did pursue to make a complaints on the website it didn't have a direct link for that. This was over 3 years ago not sure if anything has changed regarding that.
