Toronto is fortunate to have shelters for men such like this one. It definitely services the needs of many, giving out toiletries and hygienic items (when available) as well as clothing for both men and women. They also provide hundreds of meals a day to disenfranchised men and women that can make it here.

I would give them 5 stars, except for the following reasons:

1) The beds provided are adequate, however the system for keeping a bed once acquired seems unjust. One has to make it here for a 5:30 pm registration lineup every evening. If you can't make it there in time for some unforeseen reason, your bed is given away to someone else.

2) A few of the longtime staff are uncompassionate and unwilling to address conflicts at all or equitably.

3) The D.A.R.E. (Drug and Alcohol Recovery Enrichment) program is poorly administered and mostly ineffective...
