The pizza at Lombardi's is pizza in it's purest form. It's not perfectly representative of "NEW YORK" pizza, as it's Naples-styled. That being said, it's VERY good. They claim to be the "first pizzeria in America" - whether that's true or not, we'll never know, but Lombardi's definitely is a place that's great to visit due to the service, location, and quality.

Right in NOLITA (North Little Italy), it's a unique ethnic microcosm of New York, surrounded by all sorts of other shops and restaurants that truly make Little Italy what it is.

The A/C was a bit weak while I was there most recently, but I'll chalk that up to it being over 90 degrees with 100% humidity outside all day.

The pepperoni is ON POINT. If you're a pepperoni fan, then definitely get a pie with pepperoni.

The waiter/waitress will try and upsell you on the large pie. If you're really hungry, go for it. If you want human portions, just get the small.

They have some good craft and local beer, and they serve pitchers.

If you want the famed "NYC street/bodega/trash slice" - this is not the place, just go to some random pizzeria and go for anything that costs less than two bucks.

If you want a great meal during your trip between eating things like Papaya dog, street meat, and grease bomb pizza, then this is absolutely the place to go.

In regards to Grimaldi's - I haven't been to Grimaldi's since they reopened after moving their location in Brooklyn. It's been years. If you're a pizza buff, go to both.
