If I would have known what I'd be getting myself into by going to this school, I would have gone to a different university. The school is run by students, so that should give you a pretty good idea of how "organized" and "knowledgeable" the staff is. After recently coming back to church not even within a year with my husband, I was constantly feeling judged and inadequate at BYUI.
The teachers hardly ever have more than 1 hour for an office hour, otherwise you have to make a special appointment, not to mention that not very many teachers will actually email you back in a timely manner which is confusing since teachers are not required to do research at this university they are to focus on the students.
There is way to much busy work, especially for students who have families, work full-time, and go to school full-time. The dress code is a joke and so is the lack of parking throughout the campus. There are some really good teachers who do care but the teaching methods and tests are very standardized across the board and if you don't fit into that category you won't do well.
The students don't really care for each other, they want to be the best and will step on other's to get to the top. I didn't like the atmosphere of the school and was really disappointed, to be honest, with the LDS culture as this is my first experience being around mostly an LDS community. If this doesn't sound appealing to you, go somewhere else. It's not worth the low tuition to put up with all BYUI has to offer.
