M M Review of Versus Law

I dealt with Versus Law Solicitors indirectly as I was selling a property and Versus Law represented and acted for the purchaser. We've recently completed on the sale. Nicola Nolan dealt exclusively with the matter. I have to say that whilst I didn't have direct contact with her, I would struggle to recommend this firm or solicitor based on the way the matter was handled. Communication was severely poor and things that ought to have taken minutes to clear up ended up taking weeks. The sale was straight forward with no chain at either end and should have been completed within a matter of weeks but due to inefficiency and poorly managed organisation by this Solicitors, it ended up taking three months. Feedback from my solicitor was that it was almost impossible to make contact - there was a never ending excuses list with countless promises that they'd call or email back within the hour - days passed and only got dealt with after much chasing. The firm (and specifically the solicitor) came across as unprofessional and lacked any sort of client care principles. On the day of completion, my solicitor immediately informed me that we'd completed and I called the buyer directly to arrange to meet up at the property to hand keys etc over - two hours later, we met at the property and the funds from the sale had cleared and were available in my bank (so my solicitor had received funds, made the necessary deductions, completed the finalised completion statement, carried out the final checks and transferred the money to me) - yet at the point of handing keys over, the buyers solicitor (Nicola from Versus) still had not even told her that we had completed and she now owned the property!! It takes two minutes to fire off an email or pick up the phone and I think that in itself shows how little this firm think of their clients and how (un) professional they really are. I had a chat with the buyer on completion day as she was angry she hadn't been told of completion (it was only because I told her that she knew!) and she was appalled at the "service" provided with constant delays, unreasonable delays to the process, constantly unavailable and total inability to make contact with her solicitor. It doesn't take much to keep people in the loop especially those you're working for - without clients, they wouldn't have a job!! It doesn't take much to maintain a reasonable level of communication and professionalism either. One response by Nicola to emails between buyer/seller and their respective solicitors and other professional organisations literally consisted of one word - not even a hello, thanks or kind regards! It certainly affirmed our thoughts on this firm. Either they're taking on more work than they can manage or they don't know how to act professionally and organised. This firms action directly contributed to unnecessary and costly delays to the process especially as to all intents and purposes we were all ready to complete six to eight weeks earlier but trying to get them to work reasonably quick was a no-go. I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere for a solicitor unless you're fine with it not being handled efficiently or professionally.
