I was "checked in" promptly. They asked for my symptoms. Then I waited about 10 minutes and I was called. They got my weight and blood pressure. And they asked what my symptoms were. And then I was seen by Dr. Thomas G. Anderson. Dr. Anderson and I discussed my symptoms in detail. He immediately started me on an IV - partly to rehydrate me - and also to give me antibiotics by IV. I was placed on one of their beds in the back. Everything was very clean and reasonably private. I was given IVs + antibiotics for about 2 hours. Then a nurse gave me some orange juice, apple juice and some crackers. They were concerned that I hadn't eaten anything yet that day. And then a nurse put me in a wheel chair and took me to the pharmacy to pick up antibiotic pills. The folks at the pharmacy were extremely helpful as well. I didn't have my Prescription Card but they used my SSN to look up the information that was needed. By taking the extra effort to look up this information, my insurance covered the cost of the meds and I didn't need to pay for the meds out of pocket. The Costco Pharmacy didn't know how to do this or wouldn't do this for me a few days later and I had to purchase some meds for $16 out of pocket. In any case, the Samsum Clinic Pharmacy took extra effort to help me. Then the nurse showed me where the bus stop was and I made a SLOW exit because I was still feeling puny. By the time I got home I was feeling better and I took one of the antibiotic pills. Which I took at 12 hour intervals. Dr. Anderson gave me an appointment to come back on Saturday at 1:30 PM. I arrived a few minutes early. I was promptly taken into the back. Dr. Anderson and I discussed my condition and symptoms. I was feeling MUCH better by this time. He gave me a shot of antibiotics instead of an IV and sent me on my way. I had a Urinary Tract Infection ( UTI ) and I was concerned that I might actually have Kidney Stones... where the UTI was only a symptom. Dr. Anderson explained that given the way my pain presented itself, he was confident that I didn't have Kidney Stones because I did not experience Renal Colic... which is the intense pain in the lower back associated with a stone migrating out of the kidney to the bladder. So... Sansum Clinic did a fantastic job for me: they admitted me promptly, I was seen by an extremely capable and personable Doctor, the nurses set me up painlessly with an IV, I was given IV fluids and antibiotics quickly without having to leave the clinic, I was wheeled over to the Pharmacy because the nurse thought it was too far to walk and she wanted to make sure I got there OK, the Pharmacy took some extra effort to look up the information needed so I didn't have to pay out of pocket for the meds, I was given an appointment to return the next day for follow up treatment, my follow up treatment went fast and smooth and I finished the 10 days of antibiotics as directed. Within 18 hours of my first visit to Sansum Clinic I was symptom-free !! Outstanding service. Thank you very much !!
