I recently had surgery at Rex the after care by the nurses was very concerning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my pain med pump PCA was not working the ENTIRE day after my surgery then the nurse tried to cover up her mistake when I was in horrible pain and telling them I thought something was wrong with the PCA unit as the alarm kept going off!!! NONE of them ever checked the amount of medication in the syringe! Because the med was in a PCA-- locked med box, it was hard for me to see being stuck in the bed when I tried to watch the units go down when I pushed the button!!! and I was feeling no effects from pushing the med pump button!!!!! Finally at 4:30 pm the same nurse opened the med box because the alarm showed it as empty but it was completely full!!!! the line was kinked so it was NOT dispensing ANY medication!!!! By the time she was trying to correct the problem I was already suffering in pain because of their mistake!! and NOT taking the time to check the equipment properly! then the nurse scanned a new medicine syringe ( I am sure charging my insurance and finally made sure the machine was working correctly but I was suffering pain because of their mistake! also when the same nurse changed my IV she didn't flush the fluid down so the line was all Air going into my vein!!!!!! I pulled the IV out of my arm to stop the flow!!! the same nurse gave me wipes full of soap after female surgery!!! really??? are you kidding me!!! I should have only been given a water bottle with plain water to cleanse with!!!! I have been in the medical field for many years this hospital care made me feel very uneasy and not safe being there. I called my husband and told him to get me the hell out of there. I told the doctor releasing me I didn't want to stay there for another minute and wanted to go home as soon as possible. of course with a nice infection from the nurse giving me scented wipes containing soap!!!!!!!!! This all happened on the 7th floor and the Asian pharmacist that works at the hospital was witness to this medication error!!!!! as she was asked by the nurse (Sandy) what she should do--- use the new full med syringe or replace the original full one that was supposed to be an empty med syringe!!! I spoke out obviously use the new one since she already opened it and scanned it!!!! I did not want her replacing the original one back in. I hope they were honest and this med error was recorded in my chart!!!!!!!!!!!!
