(some 5-star reviews have been given by those who work there in the Academy so oh well, that's saying a lot, and unfortunately I am forced to give a star instead of two to balance)
Perhaps the service offered is in line with what they ask for annual fees (which I know has increased in recent years). The secretariat is excellent and is always available to lend a hand when needed, but it is a pity for not very transparent dynamics relating especially to evaluations. Going to such a school to learn how to animate is not very useful, everything they say is present in a book (The Animator's Survival Kit) and on websites and there are dozens of FaceBook groups where even experienced people give advice to beginners on how improve their animations, and on Youtube many tutorials on how to use the software they teach at the Academy. Also, very importantly, what is taught in these three years is just the basis of what you really need to know. There is no reference to animation on After Effects, there is no mention of cut-out animation on Toon Boom Harmony (a technique used by the largest animation studios), and therefore after leaving the Academy you find yourself unable to do almost anything. of what the studios are looking for. The lessons have very few hours, often barely enough to explain the lesson of that day, but for corrections or even to ask for advice, please refer to the class blog, which luckily works (usually answers within one or two / three days maximum ). To go to this school you have to be highly motivated on your own, because expecting motivation from the school itself can be dangerous. Since you cannot fail between one year and another, many people leave after three years as they entered the first year, perhaps they were waiting to find motivation in this school? Unfortunately, with a few exceptions, many professors limit themselves to "okay, keep it up", damaging the image of the school and the student's career. There is nothing wrong with saying "okay, keep it up", but I would expect more from a school that wants the most from its students. If students are not struggling to do better, they will be ignored by the professors.
So, if you really want to learn how to animate and don't want to do it through tutorials on youtube or other platforms, and you REALLY are the first (and only) supporters of yourself, this is a good school for you.
PS: I understand how difficult it is to choose a school that has very little reviews on the internet, so if you are interested in enrolling you can write me privately and learn about my PERSONAL experience in this school in more detail.
