After dealing with the single track roads we were glad we finally got there, but I'm afraid after all the hype we were very disappointed with the sanctuary. The sanctuary (though exploits the area they have to the best of their ability) looks very old and outdated has the feeling they are still stuck in the 60's and the range of monkeys they have is very limited, The monkeys only occupied a small section of the grounds behind and to the side of the old house and you could walk around in 20 minutes flat which was another big disappointment, the shop is very small and could be used better, the toilets that we saw are unisex in an out building. The staff all are fantastic but there is one who thinks he owns the place and is over zealous in his telling about how NOT to treat monkeys and has a bad attitude towards adults with learning disabilities we witnessed him actually insist one left the premises even after the carer explained the situation while we were there. The only reason I have 2 stars was because most of the staff were fantastic and we have a year pass with our gate ticket...... (Not that we will be returning). Otherwise I would of struggled to give 1 star.
My advice? ....Don't waste your money ...Just go to Monkey World instead were everything is better,Bigger, worth the entrance fee and a very good cause.
