King Abdullah University of Science and Technology...

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a public research university located in Thul, Saudi Arabia. King Abdullah University was built and operated for the first three years by Saudi Aramco. KAUST is often referred to as the House of Wisdom and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the academic world.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) was established to revive science in the Islamic world. King Abdullah University was established in 2009, focusing particularly on higher education and research, and using English as an official language of instruction. It also offers programs in environmental, biological and engineering sciences; computer, electrical, mathematical and engineering sciences, and physical and engineering sciences.

The university has made great progress in a very short time and is currently a center among one of the world's most productive universities in terms of research. Recently announced that KAUST is one of the fastest growing research and quotation records in the world. As of 2013, QS has become the world ranking of the university and the KAUST research record is 88.5%, which is almost the same as the Yale University's Yale University (88.8%) and the University of Michigan (88.7%).

KAUST organizes interdisciplinary cooperative research teams from faculty and students across three academic departments of environmental, biological, engineering, computer, electrical, mathematical and engineering sciences, and physical and engineering sciences. KAUST offers two graduate programs: Master of Science (18 months) and PhD Program (3-4 years) involving original research culminating in a thesis.
Degrees are offered in 11 areas of study:
Applied Mathematics and Computational Science (AMCS)
Biological Sciences (B)
Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE)
Chemical Sciences (CHEMS)
Computer Science (CS)
Earth Sciences and Engineering (ERSE)
Electrical Engineering (EE)
Environmental Science and Engineering (EnSE)
Marine Science (MARS)
Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
Mechanical Engineering (ME)

KAUST focuses on research applied to science and technology to the problems of human need, social progress, and economic development. There are four strategic research axes in KAUST's research agenda: resources, energy and environment; biological sciences and bioengineering; materials science and engineering; applied mathematics and computational science.
To support these trends, KAUST has established a focus for multidisciplinary research centers on catalysis, clean combustion, computational bioscience, engineering modeling, scientific imaging, membranes, desert agriculture, science and
Red Sea Engineering, Solar and Alternative Energy Engineering, Water Desalination and Reuse.
The former university administrator was an executive of the facilities and community services of Walid Badawi. Ali Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Minerals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
