I had a great experience at this shelter. Not sure...

I had a great experience at this shelter. Not sure what this Christine woman is talking about. They kill 82% of animals that come through here...is that including owner-requested euthanasia and animals they simply can't afford to pay large medical costs for? I had a friend who worked here and told me abused animals came in all the time, and they don't have $2000 per animal to fix broken bones (if they spent that much, every animal would cost a lot more to adopt and NONE of them would get adopted). Where is she even getting this statistic? I did a search and couldn't find anything like it. And her claim that Fresno is the poorest county in California...where did she get that from? It's not even CLOSE to the poorest. Yes, they spend 60% of their budget on salaries (that's NOT 2/3rd's, FYI). They need people to work there, including professionals, and no, veterinarians, accountants, and office clerks do NOT work for free. Yes I looked it up; they're spending around $6,100 per DAY, 365 days a year, on their animals.

I'm not saying CCSPCA is the best organization around, but please be fully informed. They are NOT a no-kill shelter. There are only so many people willing to adopt animals and it would be cruel to make them live there for years, so I'm sure they put down some of the less adoptable ones.
