Lahey began as a small & excellent clinic in Boston. Over the last century it's expanded into a big hospital with satellites. Unfortunately, Lahey s quality has dropped as much as its size has increased. Like most hospitals there is good & bad. Excellent doctors include Ying in Nephrology, Cushing in endocrinology. Lemos in Orthopedic Surgery, and Jenkins in Transplantation/General Surgery. Nevertheless, the nursing staff and most of the clinic have sunk into mediocrity. Lastly, the psychiatry dept. is to be avoided! Lahey's psychiatrists are poor. Further, when I merely threatened to report a Lahey psychiatrist's irresponsible practice to the Board of Registration in Medicine, the dept. "terminated" my care (after I'd been a patient there, off and on, for more than 15 years without incident). Really I should thank Lahey Psychiatry; their dropping me led me to drastically better care at MGH
