On Friday, 08/17/2018, I purchased $65 worth of fish. 1 pleco, 2 corys, 4 German Blue Rams, and 2 Calico Angelfish. My tank has been established for over three weeks and water conditions were acceptable to additional fish introductions. I conducted a test and there was a slight increase in my ammonia and nitrite level. So prior to actual introduction, I completed a 50% water change and conditioned the new water.
When I purchased the fish, I noticed the Angles has some white stress spots on them and informed the sales rep, he stated the fish were new and they were just a little stress and that they should be fine. The German Rams were on the small side. Anyway, I introduced the fish (this is not my first time, I have owned many aquariums). The next morning, one of the Angles was on the bottom of the tank. That afternoon, the same thing with one of the Rams. The nest day, I was missing a Ram, I figured he was lost in the plants. Well on Monday, I lost the other Angle and a third Ram. I conducted a water test and water conditions according to my $38 master kit, were within tolerance.
I took photos of the fish as they were dead in my tank an disposed of them. I then took a water sample to another store located on the east side of town (where I live) and received the same results. It was at this time, I looked up the fish return policy on the website and noted the conditions of return.
1. You MUST bring in the dead fish within 48 hours of purchase.
2. You MUST bring in a water sample for testing
3. You MUST bring in a receipt of purchase
Well, I did none of these things for the obvious reasons of distance, and time between deaths. I figured the photographs would have worked as evidence since they were date stamped. When I pushed the individual on the phone of my situation, I was told the return policy is on the bottom of the receipt who reads that stuff?
Anyway, after two trips to this store and $135 in purchases (plants and fish), I will not be returning.
