I recently purchased several items using the RockAuto website, I entered in the correct information for my vehicle. Correct, because it correctly identified 2 of 3 items. They have that history with their system.
The incorrectly identified item was a simple engine air filter. Not even a close match. I was running up against the "return time period" deadline when I identified the mistake. Vacation and hurricane issues put me past the deadline.
Ultimately, this is RockAuto's mistake and any company that recommends / identifies and sells a customer the wrong item is fully responsible for correcting the issue.
I am unable to reach the company to discuss the matter and allow them the opportunity to do good and fair business. By law, they should be given every opportunity to correct any issues before any claims are made against them. By insulating themselves from the customer on matters such as this, they give up their right to avoid their own costs incurred due to their own mistakes.
Potential and existing customers, don't let life get in the way of making your repairs with parts from RockAuto in a timely manner. It will cost you. Should you incur such costs, be sure to voice your opinion of their operations, policies and procedures. Quite possibly they will incur a cost greater than yours through lost orders due to lack of confidence generated by the policies in place. There is a no lack of on online auto parts dealers as well as brick and mortar stores who will gladly support you when they make a mistake.
