I liked A.O.C. immediately. You walk into the bar area. Dark wood bar, long community table and regular tables in the bar area. The chairs were very comfortable. The dining room is light and airy. There is a fireplace for those chilly L.A. nights. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a French country house. There are steps to the left of the entry door that leads up to a wine cellar/dining room. We ate in this upstairs room. The walls are dark wood lined with shelves of wine surrounding the entire room. There are two balconies that overlook the downstairs dining room. This is a very private, cozy room that would easily hold 25 to 35 people (I am guessing). Our group had 16 people and there was plenty of room remaining. The food was really good. We started with their amazing marcona almonds, not sure what they did to them but they were so addicting! Then they brought out bacon wrapped dates stuffed with parmesan- we all appeared to lose our minds over these, they were soooo good and I am not a big date eating person! For the entrees our options were the moroccan chicken salad, vanilla bean french toast , roast turkey focaccia sandwich or duck confit hash. All 4 dishes were delicious, the portions were large and there was not a complaint amongst the group! The dessert platter was really yummy with butterscotch pot de creme, chocolat torta and chocolates. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any and all occasions. From solo dining to group functions. This is a very cozy and comfortable place to hang out and have a drink and appetizers and/or to have good food.
