Review of Glen Mhor Hotel

I think the only word I can use to describe Glen Mhor is bi-polar. The hotel dances between two extremes more than anywhere else I've ever stayed.

My first experience here was last year, myself and a friend had a twin room booked for one night, however the room had been made up as a double. We spoke to reception and we were upgraded to a twin suite as housekeeping weren't on site to change the room. The suite was beautiful and I had a fantastic night's sleep. I couldn't fault it.

Breakfast is delicious, there is a very good selection of hot food, cereals, pastries etc.

Fast forward a year we rebooked for a two night stay again in a single room. We were given room 301 in The Cottage. My immediate advice is to specify a room that is not in the Cottage when you book. We started in 301, the beds were extremely squeeky and the mattresses on both beds had sunk in the middle, very uncomfortable indeed.

We then moved to both 302 and 303 in The Cottage and had similarly poor experiences, terrible mattresses, headboards that weren't attached to the beds and nasty smelly drains.

After three trips to reception we were then (bizarrely) given three keys and room numbers in one go and told to go and have a look at all of them.

702 in the Braeness building was a very nice too which we settled on pretty much immediately after walking in; the only issue which is a simple fix Glen Mhor: no coat hooks?

Our arrivals have been a farce both times but the staff made up for it both times through their willingness to help resolve our issues.

They have a private gated car park which is free for guests with plenty of spaces, no issues there.
