We were actually looking for a youth sentiment and...

We were actually looking for a youth sentiment and not at all for a hotel and restaurant. We remembered, my wife and I, that we went to Echoput as children, then alone, as a day out or school trip. Yes, that was quite an attraction then. You called something in the well and immediately came sound. The youth now says nothing special, my cell phone, smartphone, tablet and the like do that too. That new IT stuff, or social media, has completely removed all old sentiment. But so be it, you have to go with your time, but we still wanted to see how the old Echoput was doing. Googling of course, because we didn't know much about it anymore and we ended up at the Echoput Hoog Soeren, but first pages full of struggling about the hotel and restaurant. Because that is the main issue there now. The historic well is in the house along the Amersfoortseweg. That house is less historical than the well. It was put around it around 1910. The well itself is a remnant from the French era. In 1806, the brother of the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, Louis Napoleon, became king of Holland. With Louis Napoleon, the Batavian Republic comes to an end; The Netherlands becomes a Kingdom. In 1810 he renounces the throne. He could not live with the measures of the French Emperor. He found these measures to be unjust and particularly disadvantageous for the Dutch. It is amazing how much our first King has achieved in his short reign. His condition - just to stay in the mood - is impressive. He forges the country into a unit, ensures good roads and improves the drinking water supply. He introduces the monetary system and lays the foundation of our contemporary legal system. He also takes the initiative for the Rijksmuseum, the Royal Library in The Hague, the technical university of Delft and much more. The construction of wells along the roads where the horses could be refreshed is not in the least in all these performances. The construction of the well begins in 1809 and was not completed until 1811. The well was then 56 meters deep. Especially because of this depth, the well has a characteristic echo and this made it later interesting to go there (with school). Due to the increasing visit, it was decided to build a tea house to provide refreshments. The tenant could then also be made responsible for keeping the site clean. This is the origin of Restaurant De Echoput. Over time, it was built and renovated and the current hotel and restaurant was created. The luxurious Echoput design hotel on the Veluwe in Apeldoorn, the only 5-star hotel in Gelderland, is a special hotel in a unique location: in 11,000 hectares of forest and heathland of the Royal Domain. The hotel has 42 spacious hotel rooms and suites, a top restaurant, a wild bar, comfortable meeting rooms, party rooms, a beautiful indoor swimming pool entirely in granite, sauna, small fitness and indoor putting green. It will be clear that the surroundings, the hotel and the restaurant are all beautiful and radiate luxury. It is attractive and the staff are friendly and helpful. Although the prices are slightly higher than normal, they are not too bad. We have been there in 2017 and are very satisfied and will definitely come back this year.
