This hotel was in a lovely setting. The room was lovely and warm. The shower was powerful and hot and our room was of good size and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and attentive but unfortunately the food really left this hotel down.
The food was badly cooked/prepared and of poor quality. They veered away from the menu on several occasions. For example, on the 1st night I ordered pavlova with sweet Wexford strawberries but when it arrived at our table it had raspberries instead of strawberries. The breakfast arrived with fried chopped baby potato instead of hash brown. It truly felt that the chef was not there and someone else tried to do the cooking.
We had a drink in Casey's Bar and Bistro after our dinner but my wife needed to wear her coat as the fires were unlit and the bar was cold. We ended up having to go to our room as it was much warmer.
We had booked for 2 nights B&B with evening meals but did not find that this offered good value for money as we had to go elsewhere for our food.
It is such an awful pity as it is a lovely hotel, set on beautiful grounds with lovely walks throughout the national park.
