I went to the Olive 8 location to enjoy the spa and health club facilities. Before returning to my room, I sat in the hotel lobby to return a call from my wife on my cell phone. Hotel security personnel interrupted and asked was I guest in the hotel and asked me to show my key card from the Hyatt Grand as proof I was a guest and not a homeless person. In that moment I was scared and quickly fumbled through my wallet to find hotel passkey. This came as a total surprise and I am not certain where that that thought came from. In short, I felt racically profiled by security person. Not sure why I was singled out by the many people in the hotel lobby other than fact I was an African American man. After the incident, I lost interest in exploring the hotel and city. I travel to Seattle often for work. As a result, I have very mixed feelings about the hotel and my safety.
