I LOVE Purrfect Pals. A few years ago, I was looking to adopt a kitty to share a home with a dog who LOVED cats. The previous cat hated the dog and I wanted to prevent a repeat of the same scenario with the new cat.

I took the dog up to the shelter (leaving her in the car, parked a ways away from the building so as not to upset the cats with the smell of dog) and went inside to explain approximately what I was looking for in a cat and that most of my requests were negotiable, but the cat at least tolerating, preferably liking the dog was not. They got several volunteers together to discuss the situation, and gave us an idea for a cat that they felt would work well, and explained that all cats are returnable if they don't work out.

Now here is where they went above and beyond. When I explained that the dog was in the car, and would there be a possibility of a meet and greet right then, to save the cat the stress of being returned if it didn't work out, they were thrilled I had brought the dog. They cleared out some stuff from a cat escape proof laundry room (in case she saw the dog and went ballistic) and had us bring the dog in there and then a volunteer brought the cat in to see her. After a few minutes, it was clear it would work out (they actually ended up being the best of friends for the rest of the dog's life) and we took the cat home.

I am absolutely FLOORED by the reviews that say Purrfect Pals is just out to make money and complain about the adoption fees. Honestly, have you people priced the services they provide at a veterinarian? Yes, the "free kitten" in front of Safeway is cheaper initially, but then you need to get it spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, etc. Considering the amount of services Purrfect Pals put into each cat, they are basically PAYING you to adopt a cat.

I think this is a great place and I hope they're around for a very long time.
